Hi,

I'm having an issue with certain Flash videos.

After switching to the latest build a few flash videos won't play, and when I right click the Flash Player it says "Movie not loaded".

It seems to relate to a bug in Chromium: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=464629 and https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=466456.

I know you don't update the Chromium version on regular basis.

But is it possible to use the Flash PPAPI (Pepper Flash) plugin with the EO.WebBrowser instead of NPAPI, as this would propably solve the problem?

You can try http://video.state.gov/en/video/3948713838001 and http://www.twitch.tv/ to see the issue.

Thanks.

Hi,

We have looked into this issue and there doesn't appear to be any way to load Flash PPAPI in the current build. More over, even if we were able to load it, you may not able to distribute it since pepper flash plugin is from Google, not from Adobe. So you probably will need Google's consent in order to distribute it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response.

Too bad.
The Flash PPAPI plugin can be downloaded from Adobe's homepage and it says it is used by Chrome and Opera. So I assume it is ok to distribute it, but never mind.

Have you been able to reproduce the error yourselves?

Do you think that it is something you can solve? or should I wait for a WebBrowser build with a newer Chromium version?

Thanks.

Hi,

We do see the same problem here. Most likely you will need to wait for the new version. Generally we do not forward patch chromium since it can get out of control and make it much more difficult for us to resync the code. However we will look into the PPAPI issue and see if we can support that.

Thanks!

Ok. I completely understand.

Great that you will look into PPAPI, thanks for that.

Hello,

I wanted to chime in here, because we are having a related issue with flash. We have distribution agreement with Adobe to distribute the PPAPI version of the Flash Player plugin. Using this plugin (currently version 19), we are able to have most flash content load properly, but there are a few issues we have run into where we see "Movie not loaded".

Here are a few sites to reproduce the issue:
http://video.state.gov/en/video/3948713838001
http://games.crossfit.com/video/crossfit-games-update-show-april-2-2013

After digging around a little, it looks like this is an issue with Chromium 41. Here is the issue:
https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=464629
And this is the revision fix for it:
http://src.chromium.org/viewvc/blink?view=revision&revision=192342

It seems to be fixed in future versions of Chromium. Would you be able to apply this fix to EO.WebBrowser? Or are you updating Chromium soon?

Hi,

Unfortunately we are not able to forward port bug fixes. Since the Chrome team is constantly fixing/adding new features, it will become unmanagable for us if we were to cherry picking and forward port those changes. As a result, we always wait until we do a full update. Currently we are planing to update code base around year end.

Thanks!
