Purpose: We create PDF/A versions of web-pages to store them in a legally compliant archive (for litigation purposes). As PDF/A is of course static we loose dynamic page behaviors. Currently we store an additional zip holding the original files (html, css, javascript, etc.). As PDF/A v3 allows for storing "attachments" in arbitrary formats it would be great if EO.PDF could support this standard.

Basically one could then add the original html and all embedded objects as attachments in the PDF/A file. This would allow to have one file containing the rendition as well as the original data which makes of course processing and storage easier (and may even give the opportunity to recreate the rendition in another future standard as soon as it is available).

Hi,

Currently we already support file attachments. Will that be an option for you?

Thanks!

This could be an option. But as far as I understand attachments in PDF/A are allowed only in version 3. I.e. with attachments we can only create "normal" PDFs, correct? The beauty of PDF/A-3 would be to have a proper archival format and still have the attachments. Do you plan to support that in the future?

It depends. As far as I know this is the first time the issue of PDF/A-3 is raised. So we have to wait and see. :)

Thanks!

We would also like to use attachments with PDF/A.

Thanks.
